Walter Rodriguez is a Cuban born painter and a long time resident of Union City, NJ. He currently serves as an educator at Newmark High School in Carteret, NJ where he has worked arduously to institute an innovative and multifunctional Special Education art curriculum. As a painter, he describes his visual work as evolutionary and as such his art manifests itself in a variety of forms leaving visible evidence of its ongoing stylistic trajectory. Complementary to visual style, Rodriguez puts an emphasis on theme and symbolism that is diversely employed as a constant element throughout his art. His body of work introduces pieces that represent Rodriguez’s interpretation of cultural, social and religious matters. Rodriguez’s innate passion for the visual arts earned him a degree at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia from where he graduated in 2002 with a bachelor in fine arts. Past exhibits include the Multi Arts Festival in Union City, NJ (1998) & (2005). Additionally, he was the third place recipient at the Ely exhibit in Philadelphia (2002). Most recently, Rodriguez showed his work at the Kislak building for the Newark Open Doors exhibit (2008). Having had his first official art exhibit of four large drawings at age twelve, as an experienced painter Rodriguez is now displaying his highest level of technical maturity without dimming the vigor that has identified his work for so long.

Walter Rodriguez es un pintor nacido en Cuba y residente de mucho tiempo de Union City, NJ. El sirve actualmente como un educador en la escuela secundaria de Newmark en Carteret, NJ donde él ha trabajado arduamente para instituir un plan educacional caracterisado por ser innovador y polivalente para la Educación Especial de arte. Como pintor, él describe su trabajo visual como evolutivo y como tal su arte se manifiesta en una variedad de formas que muestran evidencia visible de su trayectoria estilística progresiva. Complementario al estilo visual, Rodriguez pone un énfasis en el concepto de tema y simbolismo que es empleado diversamente como un elemento constante a través de su arte. Su coleccion de trabajo introduce pinturas que representan la interpretación de Rodriguez sobre asuntos culturales, sociales y religiosos. La pasión innata de Rodriguez por las artes visuales le ganó un puesto universitario en La Universidad de las Artes en Filadelfia de donde él se graduó en el 2002 con un titulo en bellas artes.
