S Life is Beautiful, Cid Mendez

Cid Mendez has lived in the Hudson County, NJ area since his arrival from Cuba in 1980. He is a self-taught artist that has worked in many different mediums. Cid has been working with glass for less than a year now. He loves the luminescent properties of glass, the wide range of colors available and the flexibility it provides for his artistic visions.
Cid designs pieces that will continue to provide color stimulation when in darkness, he’s fascinated by the challenge of creating beautiful functional art in any space that he’s offered the opportunity to design. His artistic versatility, range and passion are clearly visible in all his works.
“Life is Beautiful” represents the current works of Cid Mendez which include a collection of custom furniture, light installations, recycled paper-mixed media art and belt buckle jewelry. The collection is dominated by his application of stained glass in a mosaic technique on most of his pieces. The pieces come to life when darkness sets, as most of the collection contains some form illuminated elements. There’s a soothing rich elegance to the entire collection, tropical colors dominate the palette, flowers and organic forms live in harmony on his pieces. Some of the pieces have been recycled and converted.

We’re located in a brick building, 1st floor, next to the Delta Gas station. Free parking available at parking lot on Mulberry Street (between Walnut and Cottage Sts) and also on Cottage St.
